Student Union View Complete FAQ

How do I reserve space in the Student Union?
Request forms can be electronically submitted through the website under the “Event
Planning” tab or you may email questions and requests to unionres@mail.ucf.edu .
Additionally you may phone our office at 407-823-3677 or visit us in room 312. For
multiple requests an appointment with an Event Planner is encouraged.

Who can reserve a meeting room in the Student Union?
Approved officers and/or an advisor within a Registered Student Organization (RSO.)
Staff within a UCF department or agency for departmental or agency use.
Any person or company that desires to host a meeting or event here, room rental fees
apply.

Veteran Services View Complete FAQ

I have never used my benefits before, what do I need to do?
To receive VA Educational Benefits, you must be eligible and submit an application to begin your benefits. Applications for all chapters are available in the Veteran Services office, or in the Forms ( http://www.va.ucf.edu/forms/ ) section of this website. Completed and signed applications need to be brought to or mailed to the UCF Veteran Services office, except for Vocational Rehabilitation applications which are submitted to the Vocational Rehabilitation Office in Orlando. Faxed applications are not acceptable. Specific questions can be answered by Veteran Services personnel.I am transferring from another school, what do I need to do?

To transfer from another school (i.e. Valencia Community College) you must complete, and submit a VA Change of Place/Training Form along with your Cert Form. These forms are available in the Veteran Services Office or can be completed and printed from the Forms ( http://www.va.ucf.edu/forms/ ) section of this website, and hand carried, faxed, or mailed. This will make UCF your “Home” institution, and will also be used to change your major or degree (AA to BA, BS, BABA, BSBA, etc.) If you are transferring from another region into the Atlanta RPO, you should provide all documentation that covers eligibility, enrollment, change of location, kicker and college fund information or anything you consider important for your processing. Veteran Services will submit all of this documentation to the RPO to enable quicker processing.

Creative School for Children View Complete FAQ

Are you located on the main campus?
Yes, the CSC is located on the university's main campus in Orlando, FL. Specific directions follow, of course.

Is child care provided on the university's campus?
Yes, the CSC provides an early experience program for children, ages 2-5 years. The school offers full day and part day schedules for children of university students and employees.

Do you provide infant/toddler care?
No, currently children must be 2 years and sufficiently toilet trained to attend, etc.

How do I sign up for group exercise classes?
Go to the RWC website, and click on the online registration option under the group exercise menu option on the left hand side.

Career Services

How can I find a part-time or full-time job?
Students can access Knightlink and search for part-time and full-time job opportunities. Knightlink is the UCF Career Services job research engine on which students can post their resume, apply for available positions, obtain employer information, as well as access on-campus interviewing and recruiting events. Employers also use Knightlink to post job openings as well as search for qualified candidates. Students can visit Career Services and complete a Knightlink application and pick up instructions. Students can also pick up information on how to find on-campus jobs and information on employment websites.

Do I need an appointment to have my resume/cover letter critiqued?
Students do not need to have an appointment to have their resume critiqued. The office holds walk-in hours during which students can stop by and have a Career Peer Advisor review their resume. Walk-in hours are held during the following hours:

Fall and Spring Monday-Friday 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Summer Monday-Friday 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Students can also attend in-house workshops on resume writing which are offered throughout the semester. A list of workshop dates is available online on the workshop calendar. There are also several online resources including workshops entitled "Write a Winning Resume" and "Cover Letters and Thank You Letters" as well as Optimal Resume. Optimal Resume is a software tool available to help students create, manage and present resumes.

How do I get involved with SGA?
There are endless avenues in which you can get involved with SGA: Join the Senate Leadership Council, Join University Committees, or Become a Senator. Just visit the SGA Office or our website, www.sga.ucf.edu, for more details.

How do I receive funding from SGA?
The first step to receiving funding is always to contact your senator. He or she will be able to evaluate your event or conference and determine the best method of funding for your organization. There are three main methods of SGA funding: Senate Allocations, Senate Bills, and the A&SF Budget. Each method has a specific purpose and your senator can help recommend which fits your needs.

Student Disability Services View Complete FAQ

Back in elementary school, middle school, and high school I had extra help, like more time for exams, because of a learning disability. Would I be able to get extra time on exams at UCF?
Students must register with Student Disability Services (SDS) in order to receive academic accommodations. Students must present current documentation with a diagnosis, functional limitations in the classroom, and recommended accommodations. Please see the SDS website for documentation requirements and procedures for registering with SDS.

If I register with Student Disability Services, will it show on my UCF transcript?
No, the fact that at student registers with SDS and uses academic accommodations is not reflected on a transcript.

Who are classified as international students at UCF?
An international student is anyone who needs a visa in order to study in the United States. If you are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee, you are considered a domestic student.

What services does the International Services Center (ISC) provide?
A wide range of special services are offered to help UCF international students, scholars, and employees maintain their nonimmigrant visa status. This includes issuing necessary USCIS documents, providing immigration and employment advising, and assisting with the acclimation to US culture. ISC is dedicated to being a leading authority on immigration related information to serve the entire UCF community.

Do you have housing for graduate/married/non-traditional students?
Most of the housing on the UCF campus is reserved for incoming freshmen. We do not have housing for married students or students with families at this time. We do have housing for a limited number of graduate students in the Towers at Knights Plaza. For more information on this, please visit www.ucfhousing.com . UCF Police Department View Complete FAQ

Are UCF Police "real police"?
Yes. Florida State Statute 1012.97 states: The university police are hereby declared to be law enforcement officers of the state and conservators of the peace with the right to arrest, in accordance with the laws of this state, any person for violation of state law or applicable county or city ordinances when such violations occur on any property or facilities that are under the guidance, supervision, regulation, or control of the state university or a direct-support organization of such university, except that arrest may be made off campus when hot pursuit originates on any such property or facilities. Such officers shall have full authority to bear arms in the performance of their duties and to execute search warrants within their territorial jurisdiction.

Something happened to me off-campus. Who should I contact?
For Emergencies Dial 911. For other incidents you should contact the agency that had jurisdiction over the area where the incident occurred. When in doubt call a local agency and they can tell you who to contact if it is not in their jurisdiction. Check out our Police Links Page for more information.

Office of Student Involvement

What is OSI?
OSI stands for Office of Student involvement. We serve as an umbrella agency that creates opportunities for student involvement through the various student-run agencies: Campus Activities Board (CAB), Homecoming, Knightcast (Student-run online radio station), Knights of the RoundTable (KoRT), Late Knights, Multicultural Student Center (MSC) and Volunteer UCF (VUCF). We also work with and help coordinate activities within Fraternity & Sorority Life and Student Government Association (SGA).
